High School Volleyball: District action gets under way this evening....

The Hermann girls are favored to win the school's 26th district volleyball championship when play begins Today, Oct. 25, at Hermann High School.

The Lady Bearcats, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 2, are the top seed in District 8. They drew a first-round bye in the seven-team field. Dixon is the No. 2 seed and will play Cuba, the seventh seed, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25.

There are three matches on the first night of play. At 6 p.m. No. 4 Linn will meet fifth-seeded Bourbon, followed by Dixon and Cuba, and then Belle (No. 3) and Steelville (No. 6) at 8 p.m.

Hermann will meet the winner of the Linn-Bourbon match  at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. in the district semifinal. The second semifinal match on Oct. 26 will start at 7 p.m., with the two winners playing at 8 p.m. for the championship and the right to move on to sectional play.
