UPDATED - Number of hungry Missourians goes up - Fed Report: 17 million families struggle to put food on table

UPDATE:
A federal report indicates that more Missourians are going hungry.
More than 366,000 households in Missouri are dealing with hunger. The state has among the highest rates of food insecurity and has the third largest increase in people who do not have enough food.
Nationwide, more than 17 million households have difficulty getting enough food.
The Missouri Food Bank Association says the national economic downturn has caused significant challenges for many. The group is urging for a tax credit program to be continued.

A federal report released Monday reveals that millions of American families are struggling to put enough food on their tables.

The report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says 17 million American families had trouble putting enough food on their tables in 2009.   That's roughly 15 percent of all U.S. households.
