Hermann MO News - City Alderman Apporoves election date and filing period for two seats on the Board of Aldermen - Ward 1 and Ward 2

In their Monday night meeting, the Hermann Board of Aldermen voted to set the election date and filing period for two seats on the Board of Aldermen -  Ward 1 and Ward 2.

Filing for these offices will open on Tue., Dec. 14, 2010 at 8:00 a.m.  Filing will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tue., Jan. 18, 2011.
 
The Board also voted, unanimously,  to pay the Gasconade County "newspaper of record" 
(Hermann Advertiser-Courier...http://www.HermannAdvertiserCourier.com/) to carry the public notice.


Missouri law 115.345 requires city and county governments and local agencies to buy advertising space for election and filing dates in the "newspaper of record" in their jurisdiction.  Hermann will be buying the ad four times for four weeks.

THE ACTUAL LAW:
Notice of offices for which candidates are to be nominated, when sent--election authority to publish notice with filing date. 115.345. 1. Not later than the third Monday in December immediately preceding the primary election, the secretary of state shall prepare and transmit to each election authority a notice, in writing, designating the offices for which candidates are to be nominated at the primary election.
2. Upon receipt of notice, the election authority shall publish the notice and the date by which candidates must file for such offices in a newspaper of general circulation in its jurisdiction.
