St. Louis in final two for DNC 2012?

St. Louis (KSDK) -- The decision was expected before 2011. And with 2010 coming to a close, buzz is again growing about St. Louis' chances of hosting the Democratic National Convention in 2012.

Officially, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Charlotte and St. Louis are still vying for the 2012 DNC.
"I can't say a whole lot about this. The DNC has sworn us to secrecy," says St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay.

But apparently, Democratic party insiders are talking.

The website POLITICO reports the competition is down to just two cities: Charlotte and St. Louis.

The meetings and site visits are over, and Mayor Slay says the city impressed party leaders -- with experience hosting events like the NCAA Final Four and last year's All Star Game standing out on the city's resume.

The latest speculation also pushes back the date when the convention city will be announced to early January.
