Rebounding from a 91-89 overtime loss Saturday at Texas A&M, 13th-ranked Mizzou stormed to a 15-point halftime lead and rebuffed a Kansas State comeback before trampling the Wildcats 75-59 on Monday at Mizzou Arena.
Sparked by freshman guard Phil Pressey's 13 points, four steals and three assists, MU improved to 16-3 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play as the Wildcats fell to 13-6 and 1-3 in a season in which they were picked to win the Big 12.
K-State cut Mizzou's lead to 58-55 midway through the second half, but the Tigers unleashed a 12-0 run capped by Pressey's lob to Laurence Bowers to wedge a stake into Kansas State.
Before a sellout crowd of 15,061, four Tigers joined Pressey in double figures: Marcus Denmon had 14, and Ricardo Ratliffe, Kim English and Bowers added 10 apiece. The Tigers forced 24 turnovers and held the Wildcats to 42.6 percent (20-47) from the field.
