Seek Man Accused of Assaulting Officers

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a man charged with attempting to assault two Pacific police officers in an incident early Saturday, Sept. 3.
Nicholas K. Braun, 23, St. Louis, is charged in a felony warrant with one count each of first-degree attempted assault on a law enforcement officer and felony armed criminal action. A $100,000 cash-only bond was set in the case.
Prosecuting Attorney Bob Parks said Braun is accused of attempting to injure a Pacific officer by striking him with his pickup truck. He also is alleged to have attempted to hit a second officer with the truck.
The first officer managed to get out of the way and was not seriously injured, Parks said.
The incident occurred when officers responded to the Pilot Travel Center about 1:30 a.m. and went to question the man who had been asleep in the truck.
The suspect gave the officers a false name, according to Parks, and when they confronted him about that he started the truck and allegedly drove at the officers.
Both officers fired shots at the pickup as the suspect fled. The man was not struck by any bullets, Parks said.
Officers later found the man’s pickup truck abandoned in West St. Louis County.
As of Thursday, the man was still at-large, Parks said.
