In Commemoration of Veterans Day!!!
'Hermann MO News' is starting this 'Thoughts & Prayers Chain Letter Posting', for those Serving in the Military and their Families and friends.
We will add Prayer Requests when asked, to those serving in the Armed Forces, past & present, family members of, friends of, or any one wishing to show support of our Troops!!!
This posting will be re-posted to the top and added to daily, thru the holidays or as long as it is needed.
You can leave Thoughts and Prayers in the comments section below this post and we will move them up into the body of the post daily. If you have photos, videos, or tokens that you would like to have added please let us know.
You can also leave Thoughts and Prayers on our 'Poor Richard' face book page and we will see to it that they get copied over to here.
I am concerned about the current sense of apathy that appears to be growing within the U.S. right now.
That is why I feel compelled to remind anyone reading this, that it is our DUTY as U.S. Citizens to inform the powers that be;
'We The People' shall hold them accountable if they do not treat ALL of our 'Service Men & Women' with the Dignity & Respect they so rightly deserve!
I believe it is, Our Responsibility to the Military Service Men & Women, both Past & Present, that have and are now Serving,
that we not forget them!
So with that in mind and spirit lets start:
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world,
but the Marines don't have that problem.
--Ronald Reagan--
"The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten."
- Calvin Coolidge, (1872-1933)

Poor Richard,
Thanks for posting this Prayer Chain Letter! Please add my thoughts and prayers for the safety and well-being of all now serving in the United States military. On this day of remembrance, I particularly remember my deceased father who served as an Army Medic during WWII. Some of his WWII veteran buddies still reside here in Hermann. I recall that my father never liked to talk about the horrible things he saw in North Africa and Italy. As a kid, I sensed that reluctance to talk about war among all of his V.F.W. friends. They were indeed America's "Greatest Generation"! God bless them all for keeping the world free for democracy! And God bless all of our brave young servicemen and servicewomen for following faithfully in their fine American tradition!

A tribute to the veteran's who've helped carry the weight of the freedom that we all enjoy. Bless 'em all! Semper Fidelis. The music is "Bless 'em All", sung by Vera Lynn and the Band of Brothers Main Theme. signed; Scott Bringhurst
Poor Richard says; Great Video Scott...Thank you for Serving &

added this back-story to his video;
"One small story from the video . . . towards the end, there's a photo of a young man surrounded by photographs and letters (a few of the pictures are of B-24 Liberators). This young man was lost with his entire crew while flying in a B-24 ...over the Atlantic. I bought his training yearbook, which included all of these photos of his family, friends and girlfriend. Also in the book were signed letters of condolence from his squadron mates, his squadron commander, the mayor of St. Louis and Hap Arnold, CIC of the Army Air Force. The back of the book was filled with news clippings about his death. Sad . . . what's sadder is that I found this in a BOX OF JUNK at a consignment auction. How this ends up almost being thrown on the rubbish pile is a shame. Either his family didn't care, didn't know it was there or . . . there is no family. I am happy to have preserved his memory. I won't sell this item. Just look at that kid's face. He WAS just a KID. I thank him and people like him every day."
.
Note from Poor Richard 2011: In my correspondence with Scott he informed me that the things he witnessed during his 'Tour of Duty' effected him & his view of the world profoundly!!!
Poor Richard says...This is why it so important that we never forget...
"You'll never get a Purple Heart hiding in a foxhole!
Follow me!"

(On a side note, I was in the 1st Gulf War. Never went into Iraq. We went into Kuwait. We probably should have gone into Iraq . . . then . . . but that's another story for another day.)
Your very welcome Scott and thank you for the video, it is really moving!
ReplyDeleteYou obviously put a lot of work into it, a labor of love for sure.
I am sure others will be just as impressed and touched as I have been!
God Bless You in your future endeavors!
