Six Franklin County businesses sold alcohol to minors late last month and now will face consequences.
Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke said his department conducted alcohol compliance checks June 30 at 15 businesses in unincorporated Franklin County.
Following state criteria, deputies enlisted the help of minors to attempt to purchase alcohol from the businesses. Clerks sold to the minors at Parkway Store, Parkway Village; Golden Bear, Stanton; Labadie Market, Labadie; Petro-Mart and Guffey’s Market, Villa Ridge; and U-Gas I-66 Service, Gray Summit.
Each clerk was cited for the violation, contact was made with management affiliated with each retailer, and reports will be forwarded to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office and Missouri Liquor Control.
This is the second compliance check conducted this year. The program is sponsored by a grant in order to help restrict access to alcohol by minors.
During the check, clerks refused to sell to minors at Gas Mart, Sullivan; Voss Tomboy and Phillips 66, Beaufort; U-Gas, Gray Summit; Mr. Fuel and Wayside Liquor, Villa Ridge; Wayside South, Catawissa; Wagner’s Store, Lonedell; and Krakow Store.
