Investigation of the Highway A pipe is over. Franklin County Fire Investigator Jim Schumacher believes the crudely constructed device was the work of juveniles. He says motorists are free to move about Highway A as they please. For safety precautions the fake bomb was disposed of at a local rock quarry, typical disposal protocol in investigations such as this one.
As of ten-thirty this morning, Highway A has been closed for investigation of a possible crime scene. A suspicious pipe was found off the route between Union and Washington. The Franklin County Sheriff's Department and Franklin Fire Investigator Jim Schumacher are currently looking into the matter and making sure the pipe is not a bomb device.
