Tornado Watch
Statement as of 4:50 PM CST on November 22, 2010

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
Tornado Watch for portions of

       central Illinois
       southern through east central Missouri

Effective this Monday afternoon from 450 PM until midnight CST.

Tornadoes... hail to 1.5 inches in diameter... thunderstorm wind
gusts to 70 mph... and dangerous lightning are possible in these
areas.

The Tornado Watch area is approximately along and 70 statute
miles east and west of a line from 30 miles north of Champaign
Illinois to 50 miles south southeast of Springfield Missouri.
For a complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch
outline update (wous64 kwns wou6).

Remember... a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

Other watch information... continue... ww 744... ww 745...

Discussion... tstms expected to increase in coverage and possibly
strength along and just ahead of intensifying cold front moving ESE
from cntrl/SW MO. Frontal uplift and larger scale uvv may be
enhanced with time as second impulse associated with broader
shortwave trough crossing the cntrl plns continues ewd and glances
frontal zone. Very strong deep wind field... seasonably moist
boundary layer inflow... and relatively steep low lvl lapse rates
suggest potential for a few semi-discrete supercells posing a threat
for tornadoes... in addition to svr hail/wind.

Aviation... tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
surface and aloft to 1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface
wind gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to

Netflix raising prices Starting in Jan. 2011 - New Customers Immediately

________________________________________________________________________________________

Netflix expects video streaming to drown out DVDs

Netflix is preparing for the day when getting DVDs by mail is as old-fashioned as going to the video store.
It's hoping to wean people from DVDs with a cheap plan that offers movies and old TV episodes exclusively through online streaming. It will cost $8 per month, matching a recent price cut by rival Hulu.

Most analysts expect the streaming-only plan to appeal to younger subscribers, especially those who have signed up for Netflix in the past couple years as the service became available through video game consoles. To them, the new price will probably seem like a bargain: Netflix had been charging $9 per month for the lowest-priced plan that included unlimited video streaming.

The monthly rates on Netflix's three most popular rental plans will rise $1 to $3, depending on the plan. They will be $10, $15 and $20, depending on how many DVDs the subscriber is allowed to have out at once.

The changes announced Monday are Netflix's latest step to ensure it doesn't repeat the same mistakes of Blockbuster Inc., a once-ubiquitous video store chain that didn't adapt quickly enough to technological change and went bankrupt.

Netflix says its 17 million subscribers watch more hours of Internet-streamed video each month than they do on the DVDs they get through the mail.

Even so, Netflix remains a major buyer of DVDs because most of its subscribers still want the discs. That way they can watch the latest movie releases that aren't available for streaming.. Click Here for more info.

Body-scanner makers spent millions on lobbying - L-3 Communications - Rapiscan Systems

 ______________________________________________________

The companies with multimillion-dollar contracts to supply American airports with body-scanning machines more than doubled their spending on lobbying in the last five years and hired several high-profile former government officials to advance their causes in Washington, records show.

L-3 Communications, which has sold $39.7 million worth of the machines to the federal government, spent $4.3 million to influence Congress and federal agencies during the first nine months of this year, up from $2.1 million in 2005, lobbying data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics show. Last year, the company spent $5.5 million on lobbying.

More than 366,000 households in Missouri are dealing with hunger. The state has among the highest rates of food insecurity and has the third largest increase in people who do not have enough food.

Ron Paul Responds to TSA - Introduces 'American Traveler Dignity Act'

________________________________________________________________________________

Rep. Ron Paul has introduced the American Traveler Dignity Act, which would strip away some of the TSA’s power over travelers by denying them immunity for any crimes committed in airport security stemming from their new invasive search procedures. Here’s the complete text of the bill, H.R. 6416:
A BILL
To ensure that certain Federal employees cannot hide behind immunity.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. NO IMMUNITY FOR CERTAIN AIRPORT SCREENING METHODS.
No law of the United States shall be construed to confer any immunity for a Federal employee or agency or any individual or entity that receives Federal funds, who subjects an individual to any physical contact (including contact with any clothing the individual is wearing), x-rays, or millimeter waves, or aids in the creation of or views a representation of any part of a individual’s body covered by clothing as a condition for such individual to be in an airport or to fly in an aircraft. The preceding sentence shall apply even if the individual or the individual’s parent, guardian, or any other individual gives consent.
And here’s Paul introducing the bill on the House floor:

Nov. 17, 2010 - Congressman Ron Paul (TX-14) introduces the American Traveler Dignity Act in response to regulatory measures taken by the TSA to implement potentially dangerous X-Ray screening procedures or invasive "pat-downs" by TSA officials. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Breaks Ranks- TSA Should Try to Make Airport Screening Less Intrusive

________________________________________________________________________________________

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says officials should try to make the new airport security measures, including full body scans and intimate pat-downs, less intrusive.

Clinton says there's clearly a need for the tighter security. But she says the government
should explore ways to "to limit the number of people who are going to be put through surveillance."
