Wild Web Video - Cat versus Two Alligators

____________________________________________________________________________

Cat versus Two Alligators

A house cat stares down not only one, but two alligators near a small pond, but the feline actually swats at the gators and scares them back into the water.

Of course, it's easy to stare down two alligators when you have nine lives.

Breaking News: South Korea Fired First - USA Condemns North Korean Attack on South Korea

 .
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has a briefing at the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul as the military was put on top alert after North Korea's artillery attack on a South Korean island of Yeonpyeong Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010.

_______________________________________________________
The White House on Tuesday condemned North Korea's artillery attack against the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong, the latest in a series of provocations that have reawakened concerns about the threat posed by the communist country and its reclusive leadership.

In a statement released before dawn, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called on North Korea to "to halt its belligerent action and to fully abide by the terms of the armistice agreement," the 1953 pact that ended the Korean War.

North Korea fired barrages of artillery onto a South Korean island near their disputed western border Tuesday, setting buildings ablaze and killing at least two marines after warning the South to halt military drills in the area, South Korean officials said.

Gibbs said the White House "is in close and continuing contact" with the South Korean government.
"The United States is firmly committed to the defense of our ally, the Republic of Korea, and to the maintenance of regional peace and stability," he said.

BackStoppers, well-known for providing a financial rock under the families of public safety workers killed doing their jobs — including covering education costs for their children — is looking for a little more economic security of its own. A recent financial analysis showed that the total cost of educating the fallen public servants' children could be as much as $8.6 million over the next 20 years — a price tag that could swallow most of the money generated from corporate donations and fundraisers like Wednesday night's Guns 'N Hoses boxing event.

That would squeeze BackStoppers' ability to eliminate other debts for the families of the fallen, said Executive Director Ron Battelle, himself a former county police chief.

We hired some financial experts to do an analysis of our future education costs, and we were shocked at what our obligation is going to be," he said in a recent interview.

BackStoppers provides assistance to the spouses and children of local and county police officers, firefighters, publicly funded paramedics and EMTs and volunteer firefighters killed in the line of duty in 12 counties of eastern Missouri and five in southwestern Illinois.

Tornadoes leave path of destruction across Illinois

____________________________________________________________________________________

.
It's clean-up time across Illinois after numerous tornadoes struck the state Monday.

In Rockford, officials say a twister shoved a school bus off the street, injuring six children. There was also heavy damage in Caledonia, about 80 miles northwest of Chicago.

The Chicago area also got its fair share of harsh weather from this storm. Heavy downpours caused a flash-flood warning.

Six St. Louis area businessmen accused of looting prearranged-funeral company - Clayton Missouri company

___________________________________________________________________________________
Randall Sutton, 63, of Chesterfield, leaves federal court. Sutton, president and CFO of a now-defunct prearranged funeral services company, National Prearranged Services, Inc. of Clayton, was arrested on fraud and money laundering charges and accused of a 10-year, multi-million dollar scheme, federal prosecutors said.
___________________________________________________________________________________

Six officials of a former Clayton company known for aggressive sales of prearranged funerals nationwide were accused Monday of diverting as much as $600 million from buyers' policies for their own gain.

The 50-count federal indictment seeks recovery of the dollar loss as well as a long list of real estate and personal property, including a 36-foot boat and expensive jewelry. Real estate includes condos, homes and other properties here, and in California, Naples, Fla., and Nantucket, Mass.

The indictment accuses the six defendants of fraud, embezzlement, money laundering and conspiracy, all committed through a lengthy series of money transfers.

The company is National Prearranged Services Inc., which stopped selling funeral policies in 2008 as several states, including Missouri, were closing in on its practices. The Texas Department of Insurance forced a liquidation of the company that year

Wall Street Journal asks - When will Americans declare the Transportation Security Administration a terrorist organization?

____________________________________________________________________________________

TSA Terrifies, Too

When will Americans declare the Transportation Security Administration a terrorist organization?

The TSA has evolved far beyond shaking down little old ladies for hair gel and children for liquid-filled snow globes.

Now it snaps naked pictures with creepy Advanced Imaging Technology machines, subjecting you to unknown health risks from radiation. And if you don't want to submit to this high-tech horror, one of its tub stackers will gladly pat down your genitals instead.

Several U.S. senators last week told TSA Director John Pistole that maybe his agency has gone too far. Ya think?
