A 21-year-old Rosebud man with a lengthy criminal record was arrested Monday and charged Tuesday after he allegedly brandished a handgun at his mother.
Spencer T. Vaughn, of Route T, is being held without bond following his arrest around noon on Jan. 24. Rosebud patrolman Mark Piles and Chief Deputy Paul Owensby took Vaughn into custody later that afternoon at his family’s home where the incident originated.
Vaughn is being held at the Crawford County Jail. His father is currently serving a 60-day term at the facility and his mother is expected to begin her own 60-day sentence there once her husband is released, the GCSD reported. . Click Here to Read More.

Rep. Scott Dieckhaus calls to end teacher tenure, end social promotion VIDEO FORUM
___________________________________________________________________________________
JEFFERSON CITY — Led by Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a group of House Republicans and two Democrats called for changes in the evaluation of Missouri teachers Monday.
Kinder pledged support to proposals that would make it tougher for public school teachers to earn tenure, which protects them from being fired. He said "enough is enough" when it comes to poor public school performance.
Two St. Louis Democrats, Rep. Jamilah Nasheed and Rep. Tishaura Jones, joined the call to reform education. Nasheed said it was "an indictment on society" to continue letting Missouri public schools operate in their current state.
Despite the Republicans' insistence that the changes are bipartisan, Rep. Scott Dieckhaus, R-Washington, cautioned that the proposals may not have much support from across the aisle.
"Not necessarily everyone up here is endorsing each of the ideas we talk about today," Dieckhaus said. "But the folks behind me do recognize that something needs to be done and that we do need to shake up our education system."
The push for new proposals stems from growing concern over the condition of the state's two metropolitan school districts, Kansas City and St. Louis.
The lawmakers' first proposal promises to change the tenure system. The bill would change the way teachers are evaluated for tenure. The new evaluation format would include a combination of student performance and other guidelines set by the teacher's local district, making it tougher for teachers to earn tenure. The new system would also hold school district administrators accountable by changing their evaluation format to include teacher performance.
"The teacher tenure system I believe is broken in the state of Missouri," Dieckhaus said. "I think it is and has been a hindrance to educating children in the way they deserve to be educated."

DUMB AND DUMBER Meth Bust, Two men Acting Suspiciously Buying Drain Cleaner, St Clair Missouri
__________________________________________________________________________________
A few of several sometimes easy to obtain ingredients that are often used in the production of methamphetamine.
__________________________________________________________________________________
The effects of methamphetamine on a person are obviously detrimental to a persons intelligence as demonstrated by two users in the St. Clair Missouri area.
Two men were reported to be acting suspiciously when they purchased drain cleaner from the Walmart in Union Tuesday, and that behavior eventually led to their arrests for methamphetamine manufacturing, the Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit (FCNEU) said.
Employees at Walmart gave Union police the license plate number of the men's car after they left, the FCNEU said. The car was traced to a home at 863 Plum Road just outside St. Clair. At the home, authorities found an active meth lab, the FCNEU said.
The men had likely used the drain cleaner to make anhydrous ammonia, which in turn can be used to manufacture meth, according to the FCNEU. The men's names were not released, although, according to the FCNEU, one of the suspects was on federal probation.
The FCNEU said the two men were the same ones who called Franklin County Sheriff's deputies on Jan. 9 to report a crime. The crime they were reporting? Someone was making meth in their driveway.

BORN IN THE USA?
Hawaii governor can't find Obama birth certificate
Suggests controversy could hurt president's re-election chances

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.
Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president's chances of re-election in 2012.
Donalyn Dela Cruz, Abercrombie's spokeswoman in Honolulu, ignored again today another in a series of repeated requests made by WND for an interview with the governor.
Toward the end of the interview, the newspaper asked Abercrombie: "You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plan to release more information regarding President Barack Obama's birth certificate. How is that coming?"
In his response, Abercrombie acknowledged the birth certificate issue will have "political implications" for the next presidential election "that we simply cannot have."
Get the free, in-depth special report on eligibility that could bring an end to Obama's presidency
Suggesting he was still intent on producing more birth records on Obama from the Hawaii Department of Health vital records vault, Abercrombie told the newspaper there was a recording of the Obama birth in the state archives that he wants to make public.
Abercrombie did not report to the newspaper that he or the Hawaii Department of Health had found Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate. The governor only suggested his investigations to date had identified an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives.
"It was actually written, I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down," Abercrombie said.
For seemingly the first time, Abercrombie frankly acknowledged that presidential politics motivated his search for Obama birth records, implying that failure to resolve the questions that remain unanswered about the president's birth and early life may damage his chance for re-election.
