School's Out is the fifth studio album by Alice Cooper, released in 1972. The album's title track has remained a staple song in Alice Cooper's live setlist and receives regular airplay on many "Classic Rock" radio stations.
The original album cover (designed by Craig Braun[1]) had the sleeve opening in the manner of an old school desk. The vinyl record inside was wrapped in a pair of girl's panties. This original issue was recalled because the panties were not flame-retardant.[citation needed] The album was remastered in 2009 for Audio Fidelity by Steve "Daddy Tonemeister" Hoffman in HDCD.
School's Out reached #2 on the U.S. Billboard album chart and #1 on the Canadian RPM 100 Top Albums Chart, holding the top position for four weeks.[2] The single "School's Out" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, #3 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles Chart[3] and went all the way to #1 in the U.K.
